Registration Form - 2016 Symposium.doc

The Consignors and Commercial Breeders Association, Inc. (CBA) will present its third annual Educational Symposium on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.  The event will once again be held in the Keeneland sales pavilion.  This year, the CBA Board has designed the symposium to be the most interesting, informative and enjoyable yet.

One topic to be further explored, as it always seems to be in the forefront, are the yearling sales.  Our panel will address the X-ray reports, their evolution and their future, good and bad.

There will also be a discussion with several local training and yearling breaking facilities.  The panelists will share today’s techniques and challenges with the audience.

We will present a discussion on mare care:  transitioning from the track to the breeding shed, care during the breeding season and beyond through foaling.

The highlight, however, will be a discussion with two special guests.  John T.L. Jones, Jr.  was a founding board member of the Breeders’ Cup, as well as developed Walmac Stud into Walmac International, a powerhouse stallion station of that time.  Johnny will share with us his recollections of great syndications and the evolution of large stallion books.  John Williams will join Johnny on stage to share his experiences while at the helm of Spendthrift.  Both of these gentlemen helped to mold our industry into what we accept as the norm today.  Don’t miss this conversation!

Please plan to join us!

Our Mission

The CBA works democratically on behalf of every consignor and commercial breeder, large and small, to provide representation and a constructive, unified voice related to sales issues, policies, and procedures. The Association’s initiatives are designed to encourage a fair and expanding market place for all who breed, buy, or sell thoroughbreds.
